A Touch of Tuscany on the West Coast

One of Victoria’s hidden gems is the Villa Marco Polo Inn. This quaint little bed and breakfast offers a beautiful space for an intimate garden wedding. The structure and style of the Villa takes you to a quiet little village in Italy, which was our inspiration for this shoot, A Touch of Tuscany On The West Coast, photographed by the talented Kari Burgess of Eternal Reflections Photography.

We set up the head table in the garden of the Villa next to the stone pond and backing the beautiful yellow building covered in vines. The Italian made wine glasses complimented the gold rimmed place settings and cutlery which created a romantic and elegant look. Tara McHugh Flora used variegated boxwood which is native to Western and Southern Europe to create tiny wreaths to hug the custom made menus. The subtlety of the champagne coloured lamour satin table cloth really allowed for the fuchsia and pink tones of the flowers to pop. All of the flowers were imported straight from Italy through Monterosso Imports including the stunning Italian Ranunculus which are largely predominate throughout the bouquet and surrounding the stone fountain. We fell in love with the idea of filling the rocks and fountain with blooms to showcase the beautiful stone work of the Villa.

Olive the Senses provided us with mini bottles of olive oilfor the wedding guest favours, a staple ingredient in Italian cooking. This was a perfect little DIY project that added a personal touch to the wedding while staying within the theme. Too often we see favours that get tossed or left behind but when they are expertly chosen they become irresistible! We wanted to show off a new trend that we have been seeing emerge for 2016, outdoor lounge areas. These stylish spaces create a darling vignette as well as extra seating for guests during their cocktail hour or dance party.

The bride, Lily, was in a sequin gown by designer Sorella Vita. This dress was made popular by bridesmaids but is the perfect fit for a non-traditional bride. The soft blush sequins complimented the grooms royal blue Tiger of Sweden suit and really brought the whole style to life. Lily’s lipstick colour was hand crafted to match her bouquet and bring out that pop of fuchsia in her earrings. The vintage earrings she wore were found in an old antique store and quickly became the star of the show. The style and colour matched so well with her dress and flowers. The wedding ring provided by, Paul Mara Jewellers, was an 18 karat yellow gold Simon G engagement ring. Set with a .70 karat round brilliant cut diamond accented with 28 round brilliant cut diamonds.

We really wanted to showcase this stunning venue and have an overall theme where everything tied together. From the flowers to the earrings, we are truly thrilled with the result of this stylized shoot. We had an amazing team of vendors on board to really help us bring Italy to the West Coast. We are all so honoured to learn that our work has been featured on the prestigious Grace Ormonde Wedding Style! Thank you so much to everyone involved!
